Terms of service
Last updated: June 2026. These terms govern the use of Qalabash by schools, teachers, parents, and any other authorised user. By creating an account or signing in, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. Accounts and roles
A Qalabash workspace is created and owned by a school. The school designates an administrator who is responsible for inviting staff, configuring roles, and ensuring that the people who receive access are entitled to it. Teachers and parents access only the parts of the workspace the school administrator grants them. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything that happens under your account.
2. Acceptable use
Qalabash is for legitimate school management. You agree not to: upload content you do not have the right to share; attempt to access another school's workspace; reverse-engineer or probe the service for vulnerabilities outside a coordinated disclosure; use the service to send unsolicited bulk messages; or use the service in a way that violates the laws of your country. We may suspend any account that materially violates these rules.
3. Data ownership
The school owns the data it enters. We do not claim any right to it beyond what is necessary to operate the service. School administrators can export their data at any time from the settings page, and can request permanent deletion as described in the privacy policy.
4. Billing
Schools are billed for the number of active students or staff according to the plan they choose. Teachers and parents are free. Prices are listed on the pricing page and are denominated in FCFA (XAF) for Cameroonian and CEMAC customers, with equivalents available in USD for international schools. Invoices are issued monthly or annually. Late payments may result in the account being placed in read-only mode after 30 days and suspended after 60 days.
5. Free use by parents and teachers
Parents and teachers will never be charged for using Qalabash. We will not introduce paid tiers that gate basic access to student records, attendance, grades, or communications from their school.
6. Service availability
We aim for high availability and operate the service on managed cloud infrastructure with monitoring and on-call rotation. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access; planned maintenance is communicated in advance to school administrators by email where possible.
7. Intellectual property
The Qalabash name, logo, and software are the property of the Qalabash team. Schools, teachers, and parents are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the service for as long as their account is active and in good standing.
8. Termination
A school may cancel its account at any time from the settings page. We may terminate or suspend an account that materially breaches these terms, fails to pay invoices, or uses the service in a way that endangers other users or the platform. On termination, data is retained for a 30-day grace period during which the school can export its records.
9. Disclaimers and liability
Qalabash is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability arising from or related to the service is limited to the fees the school paid in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
10. Changes
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated to school administrators by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cameroon. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by good-faith negotiation will be brought before the competent courts of Douala, Cameroon.
12. Contact
Questions about these terms can be sent to legal@qalabash.io or via the contact page.
